Caring for Giants Review
Disney’s Animal Kingdom has some of the most unique and interesting tours offered, and one of these tours is Caring for Giants.
This is a relatively short tour, only an hour long, so is easy to fit into the day. It’s also one of the less expensive tours on property! It is offered multiple times a day so it’s not a hard one to book unlike Up Close with Rhinos.
The day we did this tour we opted to do the 9:00am tour which was the first tour of the day. The check-in for the tour is just across from the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safari, and you should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour to check-in and sign waivers.
After everyone on our tour got checked in we headed backstage to a parking lot where a small bus was waiting to drive us off to the elephant overlook.
It’s a quick drive back to that area, and while you’re on the roads back there you can’t take pictures, but once you get to the overlook you can take as many pictures as you’d like.
We ended up spending about 30 minutes at the overlook, during which time our guide was answering questions and providing information. It was really neat to see the elephants from a closer vantage point, and from the other side than the ride. You can see in some of the pictures the safari vehicles passing by on the other side of the elephants. It was also great have the guide there to answer any questions and to provide some really interesting information about the elephants.
After about 30 minutes we made our way back to the bus and drove back to the backstage parking lot before being brought back onstage near the safari.
It was a super short tour, but it was really great to get the additional information from our guide, plus it was so relaxing at the overlook area, I could have stayed there for hours!
If you’re an animal lover I would recommend this tour, just going in knowing that it is very short and most of what you learn is going to be based on questions you ask. While the guide did provide some information, most of the stuff he talked about where from guests questions.
