DAS

Disability Access Service

DAS Overview

What is DAS?

DAS is the accessibility service that Disney offers to approved guests to allow them to wait for rides without having to be in a physical queue. Guests that wish to use DAS will need to be approved, either prior to their trip starting at 30 days up to 2 day before the start of the trip, or within the park at guest services.

How to Apply for DAS prior to Trip:

To apply before the trip, you will participate in an online video call with a cast member who will ask you to explain why DAS is needed for you or your family member. Please note that the family member who is need of the service will need to make an appearance during this call so a picture may be taken once they have been approved. The waits for these calls can take a while, we’ve waited over two hours once, so make sure you have time before signing on to the chat. Once you are connected with a cast member you will explain the need for the service and the cast member may ask follow-up questions to verify the service is needed.

Once you have been approved for DAS, the cast member will take a picture of the individual who needs it. This picture is used at the rides to verify the individual with DAS is going on the ride.

Pre-Booking DAS Rides:

With the latest iteration of DAS, pre-booked rides are no longer offered.

Applying for DAS in the Parks:

It is possible to also apply for DAS while in the parks, however you will be given a tablet to make a call with the DAS cast members, there is no “in person” approval anymore, everything is done via online video chats.

How to Use DAS in the Parks:

Once you are in the parks you can start booking day-of DAS rides. There are two ways of using DAS within the parks. The first, most convenient, is via the My Disney Experience App. Once you are approved, and on Disney property, a DAS button will appear on the app. The button will not appear until you are on property, and sometimes it may take a few minutes after arriving for it to show up, so do not be worried if you can’t see it if you are approved prior to the trip and can’t see it while at home.

Once the button appears, you can start using DAS once you enter a park. You need to scan into the park before you will be allowed to book a day of DAS. After scanning into the park you can select your day-of DAS ride. For the day-of selections you will be given a return time, which is generally the posted wait for the ride minus 10 minutes. Once your return time comes up, you can go to the ride and scan in at the lightning lane, the person with the DAS will need to scan in first, and once they’re verified the remainder of the party can scan in.

The day-of DAS do not expire until the park closes, however you cannot book a new day-of DAS until the first one is either used or cancelled. The pre-booked DAS rides do not affect the day-of ones, so you can have your two pre-booked DAS rides and your day-of DAS ride at the same time.

The second option for getting day-of DAS rides is to go to the ride and get a return time from a cast member working at the ride. Once the return time is assigned it works the same way as the day-of rides booked through the app.

What Happens if a Ride Goes Down that I have a DAS for?

If you have a DAS ride booked and it has a temporary closure during your return time, you will be assigned an anytime Lightning Lane and will be able to book your next day-of DAS right away. The anytime Lightning Lane will work on the ride you had booked, and many of the other rides within the park. Some of the more popular rides may not be included. You can use this anytime Lightning Lane at any of the included rides at any time that day.

Can DAS be Used During Parties?

Yes! DAS can be used during both the Halloween and the Christmas parties. In the hour between when the park closes to day guests and the party starts (typically 6pm to 7pm), you will need to go to the rides to get a return time, however after the party officially starts (typically 7pm) you can use the app to book your return times.

How Long are the Waits in the Physical Line with DAS?

Usually the waits are relatively short, anywhere from walk-on to about 15 minutes. That being said, there are times the Lightning Lanes get backed up and the waits can get long. You are sharing the queue with those who booked Genie+ for the ride, so if the ride has recently been down, or if it’s a very crowded day, the Lightning Lane can get fairly long. We’ve hit around 35 minutes before having to leave the Lightning Lane queue when it was backed up and our family member with DAS couldn’t wait any longer. So while it doesn’t happen often, it is possible that even with DAS, the wait times can prevent certain people from riding the rides they have booked.
