Flying Fish Review

The Flying Fish is one of our favorite restaurants on Disney property. It is located on Disney’s Boardwalk and is considered one of the signature dining experiences. It is only open for dinner, and is on the higher price side.

We typically try to eat here at least once a trip, the service and food have been spectacular over the years and keeps us coming back.

On our most recent visit we arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation and gave the hostess my phone number so they could text when our table was ready. We had thought to stop next door at Abracadabar, however we got the table ready text within a minute so didn’t have time.

This evening we had a great table, and a phenomenal server. We had a four top, which was nice to have the extra room with there only being two of dining. Our server was so great, he was perfectly attentive and never once rushed us. The original bottle of wine we wanted to get had sold out, and we couldn’t decide what to get instead. When our server saw we were struggling to make a decision, he brought over six wine glasses and three bottles of wine for us to do an impromptu wine tasting to help us decide! This kind of service is what makes us keep coming back to Flying Fish.

We ended up loving one of the bottles, so ordered one to split.

We decided to skip an appetizer this evening as we had ate a lot earlier in the day, and the bread service was enough to hold us over. Although in the past one of our favorite appetizers there has been the octopus, however I see that they seem to have removed it from the menu. Hopefully they’ll bring it back some day!

For our main course we both ended up ordering the NY Strip Steak. I’ve had this before and firmly believe it is the best steak on Disney property. We learned this time that one of the ways they make it so good is they coat it in rice powder before cooking to get the perfect charred crust on the steak!

Beyond the amazing food, another thing we loved is we never once felt rushed. We’ve found at other restaurants our entrees will be brought out either while we’re still eating the appetizer, or within seconds after finishing. Here, we had a nice little break between courses, which we really appreciated.

As mentioned previously, we love the food here, and while the steak is usually my go-to order, other dishes we’ve had that we would recommend are: The Seafood Trofie Pasta (which is my mom’s favorite dish there), the Potato Wrapped Snapper, and the Roasted Salmon.

This day we were too full at the end of the meal to fit dessert, but our server had another surprise up his sleeve and ended up bringing us a chocolate dessert on the house to split! This was delicious, so creamy and not overly sweet, we really appreciated this little bit of pixie dust!

We would 100% recommend a dinner at the Flying Fish, between the great food and great service it has become one of our top restaurants in Disney World!
