Day 1, Part 2: First Hotel of the Trip…BWV!

We last left off with me arriving at the Boardwalk!  I arrived right at 3:20.

I checked in with a CM in the lobby, and was thrilled my room was ready already!  I was staying in the DVC side this night, so didn’t expect the room to be ready before 4, so this was a nice surprise.

I was in room 1078 on the first floor.  I’m not usually happy about a first-floor room, but for one night it was fine.

My room looked out onto the main pool area and was a nice room.  It was a bit smaller than the hotel side we’re used to, but for just myself it was perfect.

I will say it was a very very loud room.  The bass from the pool speaker was super loud so it sounded like I was next to a club.  Thankfully they did turn the music off right at 10pm, but if you like mid-day naps, this isn’t a great location for a room unless you can sleep through a house party next door!

Oh, and one very odd thing, when I got to the room, the door was open.  It was a bit concerning, but I checked the whole room and no one was there, but was a bit worrisome!

Once in the room I called my mom to let her know I arrived safely and to chat a bit about her arrival the next morning.  I also spent a bit of time reorganizing my suitcase since I did a horrible job packing.

I was so stressed out and not feeling well before the trip, when I packed I just kinda threw my stuff in various bags with no rhyme or reason, which isn’t the end of the world, but with having a triple split stay knowing where things are and having things organized by hotel stay makes life so much easier.  So I really wanted to get things a bit more organized once I got there.

After getting things sorted a bit I was getting a bit hungry, which at this point was such a good sign since it had been weeks since I’d felt hungry, so I freshened up a bit and headed out to Epcot!

On the way in I had to stop at the window to activate my AP.  It went quick, and soon I had my new AP activated!

Now, at this point I had been only eating very bland food, so I was a bit worried about how my body would handle food and wine food, but I was getting super hungry so I decided I might as well try it, and worst case I was close to the hotel so I could go back to the room easily if needed.

My first stop was Canada.

While walking over to the Canada booth I could see the line on the far side was super long, stretched all the way out of the physical queue, but I also saw that on the side closest to me they had set up three additional registers, and there was NO ONE in line on that side!  So I strolled over and asked if I could order there, and I could!  Score!  I did notice later in the trip that those registers only seemed to be open on Fridays and the weekend, but if you’re there those days and the line on the side closest to Furtureworld is massive, check out the other side of the booth since those registers may be open with hardly any line!

At Canada I decided to get the filet mignon.  I also decided to get the red wine there.  I figured I wanted to see if I could drink at that point, and the wine pours at the food booths are super small, so it would be a good test without having to drink a lot.

Food and drink in hand I set out to find a table.  I do have to mention, it seems Disney removed a ton of tables this year, all week we had trouble finding open ones.

I did finally find a table by Swirled Showcase, so settled in to enjoy the food.

The steak was amazing this year, cooked perfectly to medium just how I like, and the accompaniments were soooo good!

The wine was also really good, one of my favorites from the festival this year!  And great news, neither the food nor the wine seemed to upset my stomach!!!

While eating I noticed one of the pumpkins from Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, so snapped a picture of it for later when we did the hunt.

Once I finished up in Canada, I made my way over to my next food booth, Bramblewood Bites!

Here I got the Bison and the Pork dishes.  I also easily found a picnic bench nearby to enjoy.  Oddly, these picnic benches were the only tables that always seemed to be available throughout the week.  I would think they would be harder to get since you can actually sit, but maybe people just didn’t see them?!?

The Bison was ok, like the flavors of each individual item on the plate was good, but mixed together it was a bit weird.  The pork on the other hand was phenomenal!  I loved the pork so much I got it again later in the trip!

After enjoying the food, I decided to check out the store in that area, but didn’t find anything I liked, so made my way to Creations to do more shopping.

At Creations I ended up buying a few F&W shirts for myself.
